Mammoth ivory--cultural relic of ten thousand year ago

    Mammoth is over several ten thousand years ago, this kind of colossal elephants, they lived all around the world. It is the best known in the extinctive elephant family. And the story of its discovery is quite interesting. In 1798 AD, a Siberia fisherman saw a titanic elephant with dense long hair starring at him inside the icy wall of the Yula bank. He was so terrified that he immediately took flight, but very soon he thought of the long ivory and wanted it. Summoning up all his courage he went back and dug out the ivory from the ice and sold it. Since that moment more and more ivory were found along the eroded Siberia bank. It is the biggest, longest and heaviest type of ivory in the world. Comparing to today's ivory its arc is greater, the huge one may exist as five meters, two meters longer than the longest Asian ivory. Its density and weight are respectively as seven times as the normal ivory's.

    Among the seven types of mammoth being discovered so far, the biggest one is the King Mammoth, with its height of 4.2 meters and its tremendous ivory. How magnificent it would be when it was striking across the North American prairie!

    Nowadays excavate mammoth ivory is very hardships and jaws, material is very rarity and amount is limited. But its consummate color and luster were preserved and its length is longest, so it gained much attentions
